Recently, here at Atlanta Basement Systems we had a homeowner reach out to us with concerns of a moist, humid and cold crawl space. She was concerned that mold may be growing, and if that was the case, she did not want her family to suffer the consequences of putting this project off. When she called in she got into contact with our customer care center, who was able to get her scheduled for a free inspection and estimate appointment with one of our system design specialists. When the system design specialist arrived at the home, he was able to conduct a thorough inspection, so that he could properly diagnose the problem, and come up with a solution to fix it for the homeowner. After inspection, it was clear that the crawl space needed encapsulation. The project was placed on the production schedule, and the crew was able to go out and complete the installation process. Before any installation began, soda blasting was conducted, which is mold remediation to get rid of the mold in the crawl space once and for all. In this crawl space they installed, CleanSpace, a thin, durable liner that covers the drainage matting, acting as a barrier between the water draining through the matting and the crawl space itself. The CleanSpace vent seals and an EverLast door were installed, which seal off all vents and the original opening to the crawl space, leaving no way of outside moisture or humidity to enter, closing the crawl space off from the Earth. SilverGlo was placed on the walls, which are foam boards to help insulate by resisting heat conduction. Lastly, to keep this crawl space dry and the relative humidity levels in the space down, the SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier was installed. Not only does the rid the crawl space of humidity, but it also provides cleaner air to the home. Once this project was completed, it looked like our crew had never been there, unless you count the now dry crawl space that this homeowner will never have to worry about impacting her home or family again. As a company we were able to return her peace of mind, and that is something we take a lot of pride and value in.
