In Shady Dale, GA, a homeowner was experiencing moisture in their crawl space, so he called us for a free crawl space repair estimate. After completing a thorough assessment of the crawl space, we identified the source of the problem and recommended a permanent solution. The source of the problem was that the crawl space was not properly sealed from the outside environment, allowing moisture to enter. To reduce relative humidity and keep the crawl space dry, we recommended that the homeowner install a vapor barrier, drainage system, sump pump, and dehumidifier in the crawl space. After explaining the installation process and how our team would resolve the problem, the customer was eager to set up a date and time for the work to be completed. When removing wet and damaged debris from the crawl space, we learned that the floor above the crawl space had been sagging for a while. As well as encapsulating the space, we recommend installing SmartJack support posts to lift, level, and stabilize the floor. To keep the crawl space dry, the crew installed a EZ-Flow drainage system and a SmartSump pump. The drainage system and sump pump were connected to a discharge line that drains the collected water out of the crawl space.To prevent moisture from entering the crawl space, the crew sealed all the open vents, around the rim joists, and any other visible penetrations. To ensure water drains effectively to the drainage system, the crawl space floor was lined with our durable drainage matting. To prevent moisture from seeping through the walls and floor, our high-performance CleanSpace vapor barrier liner was mechanically fastened to the walls, around the piers, and over the drainage matting. Upon encapsulation, we installed the SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier to eliminate odors and keep the air healthy and dry. We were able to create an efficient crawl space that was sealed properly and protected from moisture, mold, and pests.
